Terengganu Tour Operators, Local Leaders Want Tourism Training Institute

BESUT, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Tour operators and local leaders have proposed that a tourism training institute be set up in Terengganu to better manage and diversify existing tour facilities and products.

The proposal is in line with a call by Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin to tourism industry players to be more creative and innovative in providing tour packages in the state by capitalising on the uniqueness and biodiversity of the state.

Terengganu Tourism Association chairman Wan Supian Datuk Wan Ishak said currently, tourism products in the state were not managed well as tourism managers lacked knowledge in tourism.

"I feel an institute should be established quickly to train tourism personnel as the state is noted for its various attractive destinations.

"We have attractive islands, sea, mountains, forest and beaches and they could be managed and marketed into world-famous tourism spots," he told Bernama here Thursday.
