DUBAI, 15 September 2026 | Tourism Malaysia held a productive
meeting with Air Arabia during Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 to discuss
opportunities to expand flight connectivity and strengthen air access between
the UAE and Malaysia.
During the meeting, Air Arabia confirmed that it will increase its
flight frequency on the SHJ–KUL route from daily flights to 11 flights weekly,
effective 25 October 2026. This increase marks a significant boost in air
connectivity between the two destinations and reflects growing confidence in
the Malaysian market.
The enhanced connectivity will create greater opportunities to
attract visitors from the UAE and the wider region to Malaysia, supporting the
Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign and facilitating travel across key tourism
segments, including leisure, nature, culture, educational tourism, medical
tourism, halal and Muslim-friendly experiences.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Chua Choon Hwa, Deputy Secretary
General (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia; Mr. Mohd
Faharuddin Hatmin, Director of Tourism Malaysia Dubai; and Ms. Mohana Murni
Shanmugan, Deputy Director, MENA Unit, International Promotion Division
(Asia/Africa).
Representing Air Arabia were Mr. Rajesh Narula, Head of Sales (Asia
& Indian Subcontinent, and Mr. Shahzad Naqvi, Area Manager – UAE.
Tourism Malaysia looks forward to further strengthening its
collaboration with Air Arabia and leveraging enhanced air connectivity to bring
more visitors to Malaysia for Visit Malaysia 2026–2027.
