Rakyat jadi duta Tahun Melawat Perak 2024

 


BATU GAJAH: Tahun Melawat Perak 2024 yang menyasarkan kedatangan pelancong lebih lapan juta orang ke negeri ini dilancarkan secara rasmi.

Pelancaran dibuat di Silverlakes Village Outlet (SVO), di sini semalam sebelum detik pukul 12 malam memasuki tahun 2024 semasa sambutan ambang tahun baharu.

Menteri Besar Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad berkata, kali terakhir Tahun Melawat Perak ialah pada 2017 dan mengikut perancangan, kempen sama akan diadakan semula pada tahun 2022 namun ditangguhkan akibat wabak Covid-19.

Beliau mengharapkan rakyat Perak turut berperanan sebagai duta bagi menjayakan usaha tersebut.

“Kita semua adalah duta-duta negeri yang akan mempromosikan Perak sebagai destinasi pilihan pengunjung. Kita adalah duta-duta negeri untuk mempromosikan sejarah, budaya dan keunikan yang ada di negeri kita. Kita adalah jurucakap yang menghebahkan mengenai pesona, keindahan dan keunikan negeri kita.

“Manfaatkan sepenuhnya platform media sosial untuk berkongsi kisah menarik, gambar, video atau apa juga medium yang boleh menggamit kehadiran pelancong. Kongsikan mengenai kelazatan makanan, keunikan kegiatan budaya serta program-program menarik yang disusun sepanjang kalendar pelancongan 2024,” katanya.

Malaysia sasar lapan juta pelancong dari China

ALOR GAJAH 28 Jan. – Kerajaan menyasarkan kemasukan sebanyak lapan juta pelancong China dengan membawa pendapatan RM22.1 bilion setiap tahun untuk tempoh lima tahun akan datang.


Timbalan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi berkata, sasaran lapan juta pelancong dari China itu adalah salah satu contoh usaha kerajaan menarik lebih ramai pengunjung walaupun ketika ini jumlah pelancong dari negara itu adalah sebanyak 1.3 juta orang.

Menurut beliau, walaupun sasaran itu dilihat agak besar, kerajaan yakin dapat mencapai­nya kerana perbelanjaan purata setiap pelancong dari China ke negara ini adalah RM3,345 meliputi penginapan, makanan dan membeli-belah.
‘‘Kita harapkan dengan adanya peningkatan jumlah pelancong dari China, akan memberi pendapatan ekonomi sebanyak RM22.1 bilion setiap tahun kepada sektor pelancongan negara.

‘‘Usaha menarik pelancong datang ke Malaysia harus dilakukan dengan langkah paling drastik kerana kehadiran pelancong yang membelanjakan dengan jumlah tertentu akan memberi kesan paling segera kepada pembangunan ekonomi di negara kita,’’ katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika berucap merasmikan pusat beli-belah Freeport A’Famosa Outlet (FAO) yang mula beroperasi sejak 28 November lalu, di sini hari ini.

Yang turut hadir, Ketua Menteri Melaka, Datuk Seri Idris Haron; Timbalan Menteri Kebudayaan dan Pelancongan, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin; Ketua Pengarah Pelancongan Malaysia, Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab; Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan A'Famosa, Datuk Alex Lau serta Pengarah Komersial Peruncitan Freeport United Kingdom (UK), Chris Milliken.

FAO merupakan sebuah pusat beli-belah terbaharu di negeri ini hasil usaha sama Freeport Retail Limited yang berpangkalan di London, UK dan Langkah Realiti Sdn. Bhd. iaitu pemilik A'Famosa Resort, menawarkan lebih 80 gedung outlet fesyen, sukan, aksesori, beg dan kasut berjenama dengan kemudahan 1,600 tempat letak kereta percuma.

Sejak beroperasi November lalu, pusat beli-belah itu telah menerima kehadiran lebih 600,000 pengunjung.

Menurut Ahmad Zahid, walaupun negara pada tahun lalu mencapai jumlah kehadiran pelancong yang agak tinggi namun untuk tempoh lima tahun akan datang, kerajaan berhasrat memberikan tumpuan kepada beberapa negara tertentu termasuk dari China supaya lebih ramai pelancong dari negara berkenaan datang ke Malaysia.

Katanya, kesan perkembangan pelancongan termasuk kehadiran pelancong dan langkah membeli-belah yang diambil mereka di negara ini, sedikit-sebanyak dapat membantu perkembangan ekonomi yang baik untuk negara.

‘‘Saya akan memohon kepada Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak bagi mendapatkan peruntukan tambahan untuk pengiklanan dan promosi kepada Kementerian Kebudayaan dan Pelancongan serta Tourism Malaysia untuk menambah aktiviti mereka menarik pelancong datang ke negara ini.

‘‘Pada masa yang sama kerajaan juga mahu lihat keberhasilan peruntukan tambahan itu dapat membantu menarik jumlah pelancong. Sebagai contoh, gunakanlah kelebihan yang ada pada penyanyi kita seperti Shila Amzah yang menjadi ikon di negara China untuk membantu menarik pelancong dari negara tersebut datang ke Malaysia,’’ jelasnya.

Selain itu, Ahmad Zahid berkata, pengusaha pelancongan swasta juga diminta supaya membantu meningkatkan industri pelancongan negara dengan membawa lebih banyak pelancong dari luar berkunjung ke negara ini.

FAO sasar 9 juta pengunjung 2016

ALOR GAJAH 21 Dis. – Freeport A'Famosa Outlet (FAO) menyasarkan kehadiran sebanyak 9 juta pengunjung ke pusat beli-belah itu tahun depan berikutan sambutan menggalakkan yang diterima sejak pembukaannya dua minggu lalu.

Pengarah Komersial Jualan FAO, Chris Miliken berkata, pusat jualan jenama terkenal itu yakin mampu membantu meningkatkan lagi kehadiran pelancong dari seluruh negara ke Melaka untuk merasai pengalaman membeli-belah yang berbeza.

Menurut beliau, sejak FAO dibuka 5 Disember lalu, pihaknya menganggarkan hampir 200,000 pengunjung telah datang dan membeli-belah di gedung tersebut walaupun outlet itu belum beroperasi sepenuhnya.

"Melihat kepada jumlah kehadiran yang amat memberangsangkan terutamanya pada hujung minggu, kami yakin akan mencapai sasaran 9 juta pengunjung dari seluruh negara terutamanya Lembah Klang, Johor, Negeri Sembilan serta beberapa buah negeri lain tahun depan,” katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian dalam sidang akhbar sempena lawatan media ke FAO & A'Famosa Resort di sini, semalam.

FAO merupakan pusat beli-belah berjenama yang diusahakan bersama oleh syarikat United Kingdom (UK), Freeport Retail Ltd. dengan anak syarikat A'Famosa Resort, Langkah Realiti Sdn. Bhd.

Jelas Miliken, keyakinan mencapai sasaran tersebut juga berdasarkan kemampuan Melaka menarik lebih 15 juta pelancong setiap tahun dan sebahagian besar daripadanya mahukan tempat tarikan baharu untuk dikunjungi.

“Pada masa ini, FAO menawarkan lebih 60 kedai fesyen, sukan serta aksesori berjenama antarabangsa dan dijangka 40 buah kedai lagi bakal dibuka dalam fasa dua pembangunan bermula 2016,” ujarnya.

Tambah beliau, tarikan baharu yang menarik serta berbeza dengan pusat beli-belah berkonsepkan outlet di negara ini menjadikan FAO sebagai antara tempat yang mahu dikunjungi setiap orang.

“FAO bakal menjanjikan pengalaman berbeza dan menyeronokkan dengan adanya tasik, air pancut, karusel serta kincir angin bertemakan warisan Belanda di Melaka,” katanya.

Melancong sambil beli-belah di FAO Melaka


Freeport A’Famosa Outlet (FAO) secara rasmi membuka pintunya kepada orang ramai untuk merasai keunikan pengalaman membeli belah sambil bersantai pada 5 Disember lalu. Berkonsepkan pusat membeli belah secara terbuka, pastinya menjanjikan pengalaman mengujakan kepada pengunjung kerana selain membeli belah di lebih 100 kedai barangan berjenama, FAO pasti menggamit hati dengan konsep seni bina bertemakan warisan Belanda yang juga merupakan sebahagian daripada sejarah silam Melaka.

Dengan keluasan 180,000 kaki persegi FAO dilengkapi dengan sebuah tasik buatan, air pancut, karusel dan kincir angin. Reka bentuknya adalah hasil ilham firma arkitek terkemuka dari Australia, LGM Architecture. Reka bentuknya adalah mengikut standard antarabangsa dan bercita rasa tinggi.

Fasa satu melibatkan kawasan seluas 180,000 kaki persegi dengan lebih 100 unit kedai dan apabila fasa kedua siap sepenuhnya tahun hadapan diikuti dengan pembangunan fasa ketiga, keluasannya keseluruhan adalah 310,000 kaki persegi.

Ia menyediakan lebih 1,5000 tempat letak kereta percuma untuk memudahkan pengunjung dan keselesaan mereka membeli belah.

Terletak berhampiran Plaza Tol Alor Gajah di Lebuh Raya Utara Selatan – menjadikan FAO mudah untuk dikunjungi oleh orang ramai termasuk mereka yang tinggal di lembah Klang, Melaka dan bandar-bandar berhampiran – ditambah dengan 15 juta pelancong yang melawat Melaka setiap tahun, FAO tentunya bakal menjadi satu lagi destinasi pelancongan popular di Melaka.

A paradise for bargain hunters


The weakened ringgit, a new outlet mall in Kuala Lumpur’s outskirts and year-round sales are compelling reasons for avid shoppers to visit Malaysia.


To leverage the love for shopping among Asians and Middle Eastern travellers, which made up 91.2 per cent of Malaysia’s tourist arrivals in 2014, the government and private sector have rolled out a slew of initiatives to encourage higher visitor spending.

The chief reasons that make Malaysia a value-for-money shopping destination is the weakened ringgit against major currencies as well as a hassle-free tourist refund scheme implemented at eight international airports since April 1, 2015. There are also duty exemptions on a wide range of merchandise like jewellery, cosmetics, fragrances and computers.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture has timed three sales periods to coincide with peak travel periods in Malaysia: the week when the annual Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand Prix is held in April, the Middle East summer holidays around mid-year and the year-end holiday season. These nationwide sales periods are promoted by Tourism Malaysia to overseas markets.

Noraza Yusof, head of tourism, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, said City Hall is also looking at introducing shorter sales periods that coincide with international brands to increase sale impact. This will further cement Kuala Lumpur’s position as a preferred shopping destination with a strong value-for-money proposition, she added.

Travel consultants too are benefiting from the nationwide sales periods.

Adam Kamal, CEO of Rakyat Travel, has created shopping packages that coincide with the 1Malaysia GP Sale, 1Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival (July to August) and 1Malaysia Year-end Sale (mid-November to January).

He said: “Tourists from the Philippines, Indonesia and Brunei have been very receptive to these three-day, two-night packages. We offer a range of accommodation in the Bukit Bintang area and airport transfers. Those who buy our packages come here only to shop, as savings can be as much as 70 per cent off normal retail prices.”

Ally Bhoonee, executive director of World Avenues, a major player in the Middle East inbound market, said: “This recognition has helped the tourism industry to promote shopping more aggressively, especially now that the weakened ringgit provides more bargains and reasons for tourists to visit Malaysia. At the same time, it brings in more revenue to the country.”

To make shopping in major areas more conducive for pedestrians, Kuala Lumpur City Hall built covered walkways linking shopping malls in the Bukit Bintang area with its surrounds in late 2014. Shoppers can now walk in comfort through a 4.5km covered elevated pedestrian walkway that links Berjaya Times Square mall to Pavilion Kuala Lumpur through Sungei Wang Plaza mall.

In July, Kuala Lumpur’s first outlet mall, Mitsui Outlet Park Klia Sepang, opened less than a 10-minute drive from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the LCC terminal Klia2. This is the second outlet mall to open in Malaysia, following Johor Premium Outlets which opened in 2011.

Conceived as a last-minute shopping venue, Mitsui Outlet Park Klia Sepang provides a free baggage storage service, where shoppers can leave their luggages while they shop. The outlet also offers a flight check-in centre which allows visitors to obtain their boarding passes, while a flight information display system allows travellers to check flight information without leaving the site.

Welcoming the debut of an outlet mall near the airport, John Chan, business consultant, Kris International Traveltours, said: “We bring tourists here as a last shopping stop prior to their departure. The offerings are a boon to travellers as it offers very good buys. It also allows them to dispose of their excess ringgit prior to departure, and this benefits the local economy.”

Furthermore, overseas visitors will benefit from the Super Pass, a travel guide-cum-discount booklet. It was published in April and acts as a discount voucher book with savings of up to 70 per cent on retail, attractions and F&B.

“(The Super Pass) helps travllers to plan their holiday better before arriving in Malaysia,” said Alex Wong, senior manager - global marketing at Apollo Knight.

Government Plans To Abolish Visa For Tourists From China - Nazri

KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (Bernama) -- The government is looking into the possibility of abolishing visa for tourists from China in a bid to woo more of them to Malaysia.

Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz said the move was also aimed to reposition Malaysia's competitiveness in the tourism sector as Thailand and Indonesia had abolished visa for their Chinese tourists.

He said a proposal on this matter had been submitted to the Cabinet on May 15, adding that he hoped a decision could be made soon.

For the first three months of this year, we only received 350,000 Chinese tourists, whereas Thailand could get two million tourists, he told reporters after launching the RM5-billion Theme Park, Wholesale City and Outlet Mall (TWO) integrated lifestyle and commercial project by DA Land Sdn Bhd.

Malaysia had waived visa application fee of RM30 for all tourists from China from Feb 15 until end of this year. A total of 1.4 million tourist arrivals from China were recorded last year, from two million arrivals in 2013.

The TWO project, which sits on a 51-acre land in Rawang will have a convention centre, multipurpose hall, premium shopping mall, hotels and the largest indoor theme park in the region.

The first phase of the project started last month and would be completed in the next four years, while the whole project is expected to be completed in within eight to 10 years, said DA Land Chief Executive Officer Derek Chew.

KLIA To Have Its Own Shopping Mall

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 (Bernama) -- Travellers at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will have their very own shopping mall to spend time at, in between catching flights to destinations.

The Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang will open on May 30 and is sited very near the KLIA and directly accessible from the highway.


It will feature an exciting array of offerings, ranging from luxury and branded products, fashion apparels and accessories, perfumes and cosmetics, chocolates and confectionery, kids and sports wear, to household items and luggage.

It will also offer a scrumptious choice of gastronomic delights and spanning 24,000 square metres of space under the first phase of its development.

The Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang is the result of a joint venture (JV) between Mitsui Fudosan Co. Ltd and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB). The outlet will be managed by the JV company, MFMA Development Sdn Bhd (MFMA).

In a statement today, MFMA said the facility will gradually be completed to about 130 stores by late July.

"There are plans to expand the facility in 2018, as well as 2021, to become the largest outlet mall in Southeast Asia with about 250 stores and floor space of about 44,000 square metres," it added.

The Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Sepang will provide a flight information display system to enable travellers to keep tabs on their flights without leaving the premises, as well as flight SITA check-in KIOSK services and a free baggage storage service.

Mitsui Fudosan is a reputable Japanese real estate and retail property developer, while MAHB manages most of the airports in Malaysia. MFMA is 70 per cent owned by Mitsui Fudosan with MAHB having a 30 per cent stake. MFMA will lease the land owned by MAHB, and be responsible for constructing the buildings, and leasing it to tenants.

ETP: Tourism Sector, Sixth Highest Contributor For Malaysian Economy

KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's tourism sector was the sixth highest contributor to the country's economy in 2014, with the new record in tourism arrivals growing to 27.4 million and receipts at RM72 billion compared with RM65.4 billion in 2013.

According to the Economic Transformation Report 2014, the results highlighted the industry's resilience despite the nation's twin aviation tragedies in the first half of 2014.

"The ministry took steps to adapt to the needs of this dynamic industry, intensifying promotions to other markets to counter the decreasing demand from the Chinese market," the report said.

Overall the Tourism National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) achieved 132 per cent of the Key Performance Index (KPIs) of its 12 Entry Point Projects (EPPs) as a result of close collaboration and the continued efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture (MOTAC), Transport Ministry, Natural Resources and Environment Ministry, other government agencies as well as private sector.

The report revealed that a total of 362,280 delegate days were generated with the efforts taken by Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and industry partners, surpassing their target KPI of 230,000 delegate days.

This achievement, according to the report, was accomplished by securing several large conventions, incentive groups and exhibitions that totalled 152 events secured or supported throughout the year.

The 2014 annual report stated that Malaysian tourism benefitted significantly with international attendees increasing from 97,211 in 2013 to 110,899 last year, surpassing their target of 63,400.

"Efforts will be more focused on identifying high-potential landmark events to complement MyFest 2015, and heightened engagement with the private sector to help bid for more international events," the report said.

Other than that, golf revenue rose 2.6 percent to RM312 million in 2014, led by the efforts of Tourism Malaysia and the Malaysian Gold Tourism Association (MGTA), with the Best Golf Destination in Asia awarded in inaugural edition of the World Golf Awards in 2014.

Another EPP is the Malaysia Mega Biodiversity Hub that attracted a total of 875,694 visitors, last year.

In order to capture the international cruise tourism market, that is growing at an average of 14 percent annually, the EPP supports the ongoing development of a vibrant cruise network utilising the strategic nautical corridor along historic Straits of Melaka and the exotic island of Borneo.

Malaysia was adding top-tier port capacity with an upcoming privately-developed cruise terminal in Melaka where a MoU haS been signed between Royal Caribbean International and Melaka Gateway that will be launched in early 2017.

The Bukit Bintang-Kuala Lumpur City Centre also garner additional recognition as world class shopping destination in 2014, while Kuala Lumpur ranked among the world's top 12 value-for-money tourist cities by TripAdvisor, a leading online travel website.

MOTAC will step up its marketing and promotion activities to ensure that Malaysia's luxury outlet centres were well-publicised to international tourists.

Factory Outlet Sales, Latest Attraction At Kenyir Festival

HULU TERENGGANU, May 13 (Bernama) -- The month-long Kenyir Festival which began on April 29 has been enlivened by factory outlet sales in Pengkalan Gawi since last Friday.

Terengganu Tengah Development Authority (KETENGAH) general manager Wan Mat Amin Wan Daud said this was because the sales of products brought directly from factories had become the latest attraction for visitors at the festival, apart from its other activities.

"We have received positive feedback from visitors and the sales on the first day grossed around RM50,000. "Based on the encouraging response, we hope to rake in RM2 million before the festival ends," he told reporters here.

Wan Mat Amin said the target was achievable as the number of visitors at the carnival had been increasing since the Kenyir Elephant Village(KEV) was opened to public last Friday.

"Among the products on sales are apparels, sports equipment, luggage bags, crockery and electrical appliances and all stocks are being replenished following the strong demand," he added.

More than 50 activities have been lined up for festival and the Terengganu state government is targeting to lure 500,000 visitors to Tasik Kenyir which has 340 man-made islands in conjunction with 2014 Visit Malaysia Year.
