KUALA LUMPUR, 17 November 2013 – In conjunction with the launch of the 1Malaysia Year-End Sale,
Tourism Malaysia has invited a total of 221 international travel agents and
media from 23 countries to Malaysia under its Mega Familiarisation Programme.
The
Mega Fam participants are from Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, China,
Egypt, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan,
Mauritius, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand,
Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.
On 16
November, the participants attended the KL Fashion Weekend 2013 at the
Esplanade KLCC, a 4-day (14 – 17 November) fashion extravaganza organised by
both British and Malaysian retailers. The event aims to provide consumers with
first-hand look and information for directional trends for hair, make-up and
fashion from the industry’s ever changing seasonal collections.
They
also attended a business tourism seminar at The Prince Hotel in Kuala Lumpur
today as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2014 promotion and awareness campaign.
During the seminar, they were briefed on the latest tourism developments in
Malaysia by Tourism Malaysia and another two presentations by the Kuala Lumpur
City Hall and Express Rail Link (ERL) Sdn Bhd. They also enjoyed two video
presentations on Luxury Malaysia and Visit Malaysia Year 2014.
After
the seminar, the Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia YBhg Dato’ Haji
Azizan Noordin hosted a welcome lunch for the participants at the same venue
and presented them with a certificate of participation. They were entertained
with cultural performance by Istana Budaya, showcasing the richness of
Malaysia’s culture and dance.
Later,
the Mega Fam participants attended the launching of the 1Malaysia Year-End Sale
2013 by the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia YB Dato’ Seri Mohamed
Nazri Abdul Aziz at the Esplanade KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.
The
next day, they will proceed with their post tours to selected tourist
destinations around Malaysia.
The
Mega Fam programme for 1MYES 2013 is also supported by Express Rail Link (ERL)
Sdn Bhd. It sponsored a one-way airport transfers on KLIA Ekspres for all the
participants.
In
addition, Air Mauritius, Etihad Airways, Mahan Air, Malaysia Airlines, Royal
Brunei Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Oman Air also sponsored their air
flights.
