Seatrade Cruise Asia heads to Malaysia for the first time

Seatrade Cruise Asia will make its debut in Malaysia from November 16 to 18, 2026, bringing together more than 28 cruise lines and representatives from approximately 30 countries to discuss the development of Asia’s cruise industry.

Held across Kuala Lumpur and Penang under the theme A New Era of Opportunity, the event will examine cruise deployment, homeporting, year-round operations and changing passenger preferences.

Other topics include the development of cruise experiences for Asian travellers, terminal infrastructure, customs and immigration procedures, destination experiences and preparations for small-ship operations.

Cruise Lines International Association president and CEO Charles ‘Bud’ Darr will deliver the opening keynote on November 16, addressing opportunities for regional growth and the role of industry collaboration.

The keynote will be followed by a leadership discussion, State of Asia’s Cruise Industry: A New Era of Opportunity, moderated by Seatrade Cruise group portfolio director Mary Bond.

Panellists include Ben Bouldin, president, Greater China and managing director, Asia, Royal Caribbean International; Michael Goh, president, StarDream Cruises; and Oliviero Morelli, president, South-east Asia, Japan and South Korea, Cruise Division, MSC Group.

The discussion will examine cruise lines’ deployment strategies, investment priorities and the development of itineraries as the region responds to changing demand. It will also consider challenges associated with uneven growth across Asian markets and the infrastructure needed to support expansion.

Darr said: “Seatrade Cruise Asia brings the talent and experience of the Asia-Pacific cruise industry together with leaders from around the world. Here, we can think boldly about the decades ahead, learn from one another, and find the partners to put ambitious ideas into practice.”
