TAIPING: In conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2024, a new Rail Tourism Package was officially launched at Laman Budaya, Galeri Perbandaran Taiping.
The event was graced by Perak Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee, and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) chief operating officer Mohd Zain Mat Taha, representing KTMB Group chief executive officer Datuk Rani Hisham Samsudin.
Also in attendance were member of the state legislative assembly (ADUN) for Pokok Assam Ong Seng Guan, Tourism Perak Malaysia Bhd chairman Mohamad Kamil Shafie, Tourism Perak chief executive officer Nurmalis Musa, local council representatives, and tourism industry enthusiasts from Perak.
The rail package, developed by Tourism Perak in collaboration with KTMB, introduces an exciting new tourism experience. It aims to attract tourists to explore the state of Perak by offering train travel as an alternative mode of transportation. Taiping was chosen as the launch location due to its historical significance as the site of Malaysia's first railway track, the Port Weld (Kuala Sepetang) railway.
This initiative aligns with the objectives of Visit Perak Year 2024 and seeks to promote tourism in the region by providing tourists with a unique opportunity to discover Perak's attractions through railway travel.
