Perak Man welcomes visitors to new home

LENGGONG: The remains of Perak Man, the country’s oldest prehistoric man uncovered 24 years ago, was officially opened for public viewing at the Lenggong Archaeological Gallery Saturday.
Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz was the first visitor to view the 11,000-year-old skeleton after a ceremony to mark the homecoming of Perak Man.
Perak Man was uncovered at Gua Gunung Runtuh, about 8km from the gallery here, by the National Heritage Department’s heritage commissioner Datuk Dr Zuraina Majid and a team of other archaeologists in 1991. It was exhibited at the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur prior to being relocated here last year.
