eStar.fm Radio advisor Datuk T. Murugiah said as the station aired over the internet it could reach a global audience.
"It will also help local artistes reach a wider audience. Local businessmen can market their products abroad by advertising with the station as well, as it would be cheaper due to being 100 percent over the internet," he said after the station's launch here Friday. Also present was eStar.fm's founder and producer Datuk N. Keith.
The Kuala Lumpur based 24-hour radio station, whose tagline is 'just play better', went on air two months ago.
