New Batik centre in T’gganu to be a tourist landmark

KUALA TERENGGANU: Kota Batik, a newly completed purpose-built batik centre in the Terengganu Entrepreneurial Complex (YPU) in Kampung Banggol near here will open in March.

Terengganu Entrepreneurial Development Foundation deputy general manager A Razak Sulaiman said the RM25mil Kota Batik or ‘City of Batik’, which was built on a four-hectare site, would house 48 batik and computer entrepreneurs. The centre, added Razak, would cater for local batik entrepreneurs and is equipped with a batik research and development facility, songket creative workshop, a model batik factory for exhibition, batik showroom and a batik show venue.

He added that the Kota Batik would be a new tourist landmark for batik clothing in the state capital besides Pasar Payang while the ICT centre on the first floor would be an added attraction.
