Kelantan wants to work with Perak to lure tourists

KOTA BARU: Kelantan wants to cooperate with Perak to attract tourists to the two states in line with this year's Visit Kelantan Year and Visit Perak Year.

State Local Government, Tourism and Culture Committee chairman Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said he would meet Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir to discuss the matter during a courtesy call by a convoy of 22 high-powered motorcycles he is leading to promote Visit Kelantan Year 2012. He said the tourism committees of the two states would arrange programmes to attract tourists to the two states under a memorandum of understanding.

"This is our plan to attract tourists to Kelantan," he said before a ceremony to flag off the convoy at the Kota Darul
Naim Complex here. Takiyuddin said the participants of the convoy, accompanied by cultural performers, would also visit the mentris besar of Kedah and Perlis and the chief minister of Penang. He said it was hoped that the cooperation would enable Kelantan to meet the target of six million tourist arrivals this year.
