TG: Now We Should Make Our Mark

Cardiff City Chairman Dato' Chan Tien Ghee has told City supporters that we should now build on our semi-final success.

Speaking at Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday following the drama that played out at the home of the Bluebirds the night before, TG said: "Yesterday evening was amazing - I haven't quite come down to earth yet I must admit!

"But one always has to remain focused on the days ahead, especially with a big game coming up next Tuesday against Southampton."

Tan Sri Vincent Tan joined Dato' Chan on the Stadium turf to join in the celebrations after the final whistle and with reference to the special moment, TG added: "I think the joy on our faces after the game was a reflection of our attachment to Cardiff City Football Club since we took an interest eighteen months ago with our Welsh partners. A lot of hard work has been done which is starting to show - I really believe this Club deserved to win the game.

"I was very humbled at the warmth of our fans. They made the difference. I want to congratulate Malky and the boys - we played hard and I'm very, very proud of them.

"We've been tested many times as a Football Club. But this side plays until the very end. We give everything and despite the fact that time was going on last night, I still believed we would do it.

"The building blocks are in place for sure, although we're still on a journey. But I think the fact that we've reached the Carling Cup Final shows that we're doing thing right.Whether you're the underdog in a Final or otherwise there is always pressure. We should go out there at Wembley, do our best, enjoy the game and make our mark.

"Something like this makes people feel very happy. We want Cardiff City - the capital of Wales - to benefit from that.Everybody involved with this Club is passionate about getting things right. On top of that, our fans are superb."

And TG also made sure to acknowledge the impact of Malky Mackay upon the Club in the short time he's been in charge. The Chairman continued: "Malky Mackay has brought everybody at this Club together - the players, every member of staff and the fans.

"His work ethic is second to none. He's very affable and sensitive to the relationships between the Club and Malaysia. I think he's really great, fabulous.

"The game was shown live in Malaysia and within minutes of the final whistle I'd had over three hundred SMS messages congratulating us! The win was for Cardiff City, Wales and Malaysia.

"Last night was one of the biggest moments of my life. And believe me, I really mean that. God bless Cardiff City. It's time that this Club was recognised. Let's take this as something we're very proud of and look forward to the next stage."
