Malaysia to host South Korea's biggest music awards

PUTRAJAYA: Local K-Pop fans are in for a treat for South Korea's biggest music awards, the Golden Disk Awards, will be held at the Sepang International Circuit on Jan 15 and 16.
More than 20 South Korean top artistes, who have been nominated for the awards, will be performing at the event. The list includes PSY, Big Bang, Super Junior, KARA, T-ara, CNBlue, FT Island, Infinite, Girls Generation and Beast.
Organised by Mediartncomm Co Ltd, the event is sponsored by Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd, and supported by the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB). The pre-recorded telecast of the awards presentation will be beamed to South Korea.
Speaking at a news conference Thursday, Samsung Malaysia Electronics managing director Kwon Jae Hoon said Samsung was thrilled for being able to bring top South Korean artistes to Malaysia. "We are delighted to host one of the most prestigious awards. This venture is an extension of Samsung's philosophy brought to life, as we continuously strive to inspire and enrich our consumers' lives," he said.
The annual Golden Disk Awards dubbed, as the Korean Grammy Awards is the most prestigious K-Pop music awards for outstanding achievements in the music industry. The awards are categorised based on the previous year's most popular K-POP musics from the digital downloads.
