We continue with the introduction of the beauties in the 2012 Miss Tourism International pageant.
Today, we get to know a little about another five intelligent women, representing Cambodia, Panama, Mongolia, Spain and Zambia. The finals will be held at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Petaling Jaya on Dec 31.
MISS CAMBODIA: Tol Sokny is a 21-year- old who enjoys watching fashion-related TV shows. The South-East Asian beauty has hopes of conducting the promotional campaign for Cambodia and strive to be cooperative with other international tourism institutions as tourism ambassador for Cambodia.
Sokny, who is a student, considers the ancient temples of Angkor Wat to be a location that all tourists should visit while in Cambodia.
“I pick this location because Cambodia is a potential tourism spot and we would like more people to get to know our famous Angkor Wat. That’s why we need to spread our Cambodian tourism profile more widely.” The lass stands at 170cm tall and hails from Phnom Penh.
MISS PANAMA: Cleirys Velasquez is a student representing her hometown of Costa del Este.
“The best ways to promote my country is via the media and the Internet as these give us the facility to show the world the tourist attractions our country has.”
Velasquez recommends Boro del Toro as one of the main attractions in Panama.
The 19-year-old enjoys reading, swimming and running in her past time. The brunette who measures in at 178cm, chooses this location because tourists can have the opportunity to see and do a wide variety of activities.
MISS MONGOLIA: She describes her home country as being one of the most beautiful historical countries on the planet. Working as a model and still studying, Amarzaya Togtbaatar believes that Mongolia is a country that has a lot of cultural heritage.
“A location I would like to recommend is Huvsgul Lake. It is the deepest and cleanest lake that is located at the northwest of Mongolia. There you can see animals such as reindeer, and meet nomadic tribes-people called the Tsaatans. You can also visit the Gobi Desert to see sand dunes.” The black-haired beauty fills her free time by going to the gym, dancing and reading.
The 23-year-old Asian beauty stands at a height of 178cm and is a native of Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia.
MISS SPAIN: Standing a height of 178cm, this beautiful Spanish lass prefers physical activities such as dancing and playing tennis as well as more laid-back ones such as reading and listening to her favourite music.
Raquel Arias Jimenez, 20, sees Spain as the most beautiful country in the world.
“It is very important for the country’s capital to have many attractions, especially in the city centre. The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and Santiago will surprise you. In the southern cities we have a lot of tours, for example the Giralda in Seville and the Alhambra in Granada. Places such as Valencia and Extremadura have their charms too.”
“I choose to highlight all the above because Spain is varied, each place has surprises in store for you regardless of which path you take. The architecture, the customs and food are very different,” said Jimenez, who has dark-blonde hair. She hails from the town of Cáeres, Spain, is currently studying.
MISS ZAMBIA: A model and an economics student, 22-year-old Atienno Winnie Freadh Kebwe believes the awareness of tourism in her home country of Zambia has to begin with the youth.
“One way is by going into schools to inform young people like myself about the natural and cultural heritage Zambia has and its benefits, simply because young people are not informed about this. I would also take advantage of the Internet.” The Lusaka native occupies her free time by reading, travelling, networking and making beaded craft.
Standing at 170cm, with flowing dark-brown hair, the African beauty believes the yearly wildebeest migration to be the most spectacular attraction in Zambia.
