Qatar Holding, Jerantas in RM2b Harrods Hotels and Residences JV

KUALA LUMPUR: Qatar Holding LLC and Jerantas Sdn Bhd are teaming up to build Asia's first Harrods Hotels and Residences costing RM2bil in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday for the project which would be built on a piece of land between Jalan Raja Chulan and Jalan Conlay. The hotel and serviced apartments would be developed on 5.48 acres of land where Chulan Square and Seri Melayu Restaurant are located.

Qatar Holding owns Harrods and the project is part of a long-term strategy to develop the Harrods brand. The plan is to expand the Harrods Group portfolio by opening Harrods-branded hotels in London as well as other prime locations around the world.

“The target plan is to open Harrods hotels at sites in key cities such as Kuala Lumpur, New York and Paris and as well as in China. Preference will be given to construction on sites already owned by Qatar Holding or its affiliates as well as other prime locations around the world,” Qatar Holding said in a statement.
