Sabah Tourism turns to social media to promote state

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Tourism is turning to social media as it steps up its efforts to promote the state, said Sabah Tourism chairman Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.

He said on Saturday that Sabah Tourism had recently kicked off its Beautiful Sabah 2.0 campaign through various social media platforms, including Facebook.
“We are producing short videos,” he said as he announced a restructuring of Sabah Tourism’s top management.
Joniston said that Sabah Tourism would also be consulting key players in Sabah’s tourism industry to establish a stronger presence online.
On the restructuring of the senior management of Sabah Tourism, three new deputy general managers have been appointed to assist Sabah Tourism general manager Gordon Yapp.
The three are Kevin Chin (Product, Finance & Corporate Services), Noredah Othman (Research & Support Services) and Suzaini Sabdin Ghani (Marketing).
While the first two deputy general managers are promotions, Suzaini’s appointment is new to Sabah Tourism, after having served with the private sector as a hotelier for 26 years.
“The Board believes that the new appointments and promotions will lead to a much more focus effort to drive the industry forward," said Joniston.
