Labuan Angler Won Labuan International Fishing Tournament

LABUAN, May 1 (Bernama) -- A Labuan angler won the International Island to Island Game Fishing Tournament with his catch of 34kg stingray, dominating 21 per cent of the 161.05kg total catch.

Musa Bariong, who is the Labuan Corporation Enforcement Department director, also won the third and fifth place with his 7.25kg and 3.05kg catches respectively.

His total catches of 44.3kg enabled him to also win to the group category and collected total cash prize of RM7,500.

The fishing tournament, which was part of the Labuan International Sea Challenge (LISC), saw 156 participants across the country and foreign participants from Philippines (five) and Brunei (eight).

Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board Labuan manager Nor Hidayah Mohd Nor said this year's LISC was regarded as successful with a total of 1,000 participants took part in the various events including in the four international events of 5.4KM Cross Channel Swimming Challenge, Round Island Kayak Challenge, Island to Island Game Fishing Tournament and Boat Tug of War.

The annual event organised by Labuan Corporation was also supported by MTPB, Ministry of Tourism and Culture Office Labuan, Labuan Surf Cast Group, Labuan Sports Council, Labuan Youth Council and Labuan Canoe Association.
