PUTRAJAYA, May 20 (Bernama) -- One million local and foreign visitors are expected to attend the Royal Floria Putrajaya 2016, which begins on May 27 to June 4 at the Pesisiran Tasik, Precint 4 here.

Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Seri Hasim Ismail said the chrysanthemum had been chosen as the floral theme of the event which would be held for the ninth year.

He said the Royal Floria Putrajaya would be launched by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah on May 26, at 3pm.

"The attractions of the festival are the Mystical Forest, Mermaid's World, Chrysanthemum Garden, Cats Garden and terrarium workshop (planting in glass).

"This time, we also organise dialogues on horticulture and landscaping for two-day from May 27 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre," he told a news conference to introduce Royal Floria Putrajaya 2016's smart partners here Friday.

Hasim said, the exhibition would see the participation of 32 agencies and through its smart partnership efforts to reduce the cost borne by the government.

He added it was also to enable the Floria to become a self-sufficient unit as well as a platform for the agencies to promote their services and products, thus educating the public about the importance of appreciating and conserving the environment.

"We expect more visitors to this year's Royal Floria as it will be held during the school holidays while PPj has also already made large scale promotion nationwide and at foreign countries such as Thailand and Singapore," he said.
