As the French Grand Prix got underway at the famous Le Mans Circuit, DRIVE M7 SIC Racing Team rider Jakub Kornfeil made an impressive start, quickly getting up to speed and showing strong form throughout the day. Free Practice one saw the Czech rider consistently on the pace as he pushed for the top spot on the timesheets. Having held onto second place for the majority of FP1, Kornfeil continued to work hard throughout the afternoon’s session to conclude a positive first day of practice.
Teammate Adam Norrodin had a harder start at the French Circuit as he struggled to complete a seamless lap. Despite initial struggles with the set-up of his #7 bike, the determined Malay worked hard to find his rhythm and improve his time. Making good progress as the day came to a close, the Moto3 rookie is confident of a stronger performance in tomorrow’s qualifying.

“We found a good setting for the bike in Jerez, so we started with this in the first practice and it worked very well. I was surprised just how good the set-up felt at this track. I was able to push a lot in FP1 and we had a very good practice; I was at the top of the results for the majority of the session. In second practice conditions were quite different; the track temperature had increased and we also made some changes to the gearing. We put in new tyres towards the end and the feeling on the bike was completely improved; it made such a difference and I felt the whole bike started to work perfectly again. I feel strong in this moment, especially when I’m behind someone because I feel I can stay with and pass them well. It feels nice to ride here. We are working very carefully and I’m feeling confident in the job we are doing here. Top ten is good for Friday, so let’s see what tomorrow brings.”

“In first practice I felt a bit strange on the bike; it was completely different to the test we did at Barcelona just one week ago. We changed our set-up and in the middle of the session my feeling started to improve but the lap time was not there. I was really disappointed about this because I wanted to push more. The second session was definitely better; we started well and I quickly improved my time. Towards the end of FP2 I struggled to put a perfect lap together; in some sectors I was quick then others really slow. Our ideal lap time is not so bad, so we know we can do better. We are not so far off; we just need to concentrate more to get everything right and for sure we can improve. I don’t want to change much on the bike, I have to just focus on finding my rhythm around this circuit and the lap time will come. I will push hard for this tomorrow. I want to make a good qualifying.”
