This weekend’s championship will be the first race to be held at Sepang after the completion of the track resurfacing works early this month. This weekend may also mark the final WorldSBK event to be hosted by SIC. Nevertheless, fans can look forward to an exciting three days of activities, including favourites like the Pit Lane Walk, Opening Ceremony Bike Parade, Autograph Session with the riders and much more.
Since the first WorldSBK championship was held in Sepang back in 2014, this motorsports event has gained popularity amongst Malaysian motorsports fans. They are urged to head down to SIC this weekend for a chance to witness history in the making as Fahmi races on his home track for the very first time in the WorldSSP championship. WSBK Riders Visit GIATMARA, KL (12 May)
Popular WorldSBK and WorldSSP riders including Jonathan Rea, Chaz Davies, Nicky Hayden, Zulfahmi Khairuddin among others are scheduled to visit the GIATMARA Batu Centre in Kuala Lumpur for an educational session with the automotive students with a special carnival arranged for the fans. The riders together with their team technicians and specialists will be sharing their motorsports-related insights, knowledge and experience with the students. They will also be visiting Batu Caves, one of Malaysia’s top tourist attractions, so come join them if you’re in the neighbourhood.
Paddock Show (13-15 May)
The paddock show will be happening from 9.00am till 6.00pm, 13 to 15 May. Here’s where you can get live interviews with the riders moments after the chequered flag goes down, enjoy fun entertainment programmes, live updates from the race, a cafĂ© to chill at and the chance to purchase some official merchandise. If you’re lucky, you might get to win some prizes or meet your favourite riders at the Paddock Show.
Auto Carnival and Strider Malaysia Race (13-15 May)
Motorsports fans can browse through exciting offerings of products and services catering to bikers and two-wheel motorsports fans at the Mall Area with 30 booths to check out. Be entertained by 1 to 5-year-olds racing in the Strider Malaysia Race on Sunday at the mall area, something exciting for two wheel fans of all ages.
Stunt Show with Aaron Twite (14 – 15 May)
Catch freestyle street bike stunt rider Aaron Twite in action on the track, and marvel at his amazing skills and entertaining show. Shows are scheduled from 12.50pm - 1.20pm and 3.15pm - 3.30pm on Saturday and 3.00pm – 3.15pm on Sunday at the track’s Starting Grid.
Let’s join in the fun and experience the Public Pit Lane Walk which will be happening in between the race events on Saturday afternoon. The Public Pit Lane Walk provides an exclusive view of the teams’ garages and the technical side of the race up close. Open to the first 1,500 Main Grandstand ticket holders. The pit lane walk session will be held on 14 May from 12.50pm till 1.20pm.
Riders’ Autograph Session (14 May)
Don’t miss the opportunity to meet your idol up close and get your memento in the autograph session happening on the second day at the Mall Area. WorldSBK offers more chances to meet the riders as three autograph sessions are held throughout the day, beginning with top WorldSBK riders scheduled at 12.10pm to 12.30pm, followed by the World Supersports riders at 5.15pm to 5.45pm and rounded up by the Top 3 and Pirelli Best Lap WorldSBK riders from 5.45pm to 6.15pm. Fahmi's fans can also meet their favourite World Supersport rider at the Mall Area from 4.40pm till 4.55pm.
Opening Ceremony: Bike Parade (15 May)
Come and witness the magnificent world of the WorldSBK with top bike manufactures and bike clubs, when they cruise onto the track for the Grand Opening Ceremony Bike Parade. The opening ceremony will mark the final and most important day of the race weekend and will take place from 12.20 to 12.35pm before the start of the main races.
