He said according to the Statistics Department, in 2012, 5.7 million domestic tourists visited Perak and that this was a positive indication that the state should be able to meet its five million tourists target for Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2014.
"I am confident the target can be met because Perak has much to offer to tourists in terms of history, heritage and culture and natural beauty," he said when launching Perak's Rail Tourism Package in conjunction with VMY2014 here last night.
He cited as examples the Royal Belum Park, Gua Tempurung, Taiping Zoo and Night Safari, The Limestone Wonder, Lumut and Pulau Pangkor asides the royal town of Kuala Kangsa Bandar Diraja.
He added that the rail tourism package offered by Perak would boost tourist arrivals in the state during VMY 2014.
