Hunt for treasure and soar with MAS

PETALING JAYA: Travellers can win holiday packages and merchandise from Malaysia Airlines (MAS) when they embark on a treasure hunt online in an ancient Malaysian Kingdom.

The first-of-its kind 3D Virtual Social Game World (VSGW) known as “The Lost Treasure of Malaysia”, was unveiled at the World Travel Market by MAS’ travel and tour arm MASholidays in London yesterday. The VSGW which was specially developed for the national carrier will be available to the public next year.

“Malaysia Airlines is the first airline in the world to use a virtual social game world to promote its destinations,” said MASholidays chairman Datuk Dr Amin Khan in a statement. Users will have to compete in the search for “treasure chests, relics and other items which have been stolen from the royalty” to gain points and eventually emerge as “Hero of Malaysia” to win.

“Certain items in the VSGW adventure will also unlock access to special areas such as MASholi day lounges, where travellers can access more destinations, items and content,” said the statement. The VSGW developed by E-Dynamics, a Swiss-based ad van ced digital social media company, is fully compatible with all major web browsers, smart phones and game consoles.

Users will also be able to purchase products, packages, flight tickets, promotions and other value-added products and services through the VSGW platform. During the same event, the national carrier also launched its enhanced Malaysia Stopover Programme (MSO) 2012 themed “Hola Malaysia!” The programme aims to promote tourist arrivals to the country and to convert passengers transiting in Malaysia as tourists.
