IPOH: AirAsia Bhd will set up a travel and service centre here as some passengers are not keen on booking their flights through the Internet.
Tune Hotels Group chief executive officer Mark Lankester said the centre, expected to commence operations in March next year, would be located at the lobby of the soon-to-be-ready Tune Hotel on Jalan Veerasamy here. The centre, he said, was the first to be located within a Tune Hotel. “It is going to be a large travel service centre.
“Our staff at the centre will assist customers in making bookings, change their flight details and also look up for travel packages that are available,” he told reporters after the signing of an agreement between Tune Hotels and Liew Yin Yin Group at the Ipoh City Council building here yesterday.
Lankester noted that Liew Yin Yin Group was currently developing the Tune Hotel here on a 0.2ha piece of land owned by the council. Lankester added that Tune Hotels would be opening eight new hotels, including one in Haadyai, Thailand, one on Liverpool Street in London and one in Cebu Island in the Philippines.
