A sprawling eden where pristine rainforests rise out of turquoise waters, the alluring Berjaya Langkawi Resort is where weary souls retreat for a magical sojourn through nature’s enchanting embrace.
With 350 suites and chalets perched over the sea and in between centuries of old trees, the tranquil setting does wonders in rejuvenating the senses, giving one a feeling of living amidst a picture perfect postcard. A group of 30 members from various print, broadcast and digital media experienced the wonder first hand during a media excursion trip in mid-October.
They stayed two nights at the property located at the southwestern tip of Langkawi — the Jewel of Kedah. Pampered from start to finish, they enjoyed sessions at the oasis of zen, ayura spa, partook in adrenaline-pumping water-sports activities, went on educational nature walks besides touring the island’s main attractions and shopping destinations.
Many would have noticed an increase in their waistlines after non-stop feasting at five different outlets — where the most eye-opening of which, was the floating, open-air Pahn-Thai Restaurant. They planted several trees in an adjacent mangrove area under a long-term Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Save The Rainforest, before ending the trip literally on a high with a visit to the top of Gunung Mat Chinchang by cable car.
Before the Langkawi visit, the group, which travelled on a chartered Berjaya Airliner flight, also stayed a night at its sister property Berjaya Penang Hotel, kicking back in its newly refurbished rooms and indulging on local hawker fare during local excursions.
The media trip was held in conjunction with the launch of Berjaya Hotels and Resorts’ (BHR) 3, 2, 1 – Stop! @ BHR campaign, which offers travel packages tailored to different needs of their guests. Valid until the end of February next year, it encompasses the property in Langkawi and Penang, as well as the Berjaya Tioman Resort and the Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
The catchy theme represents three leisure stop packages ‘Dream and Dine’, ‘Family Day Out’ and ‘Great Escape’, for Berjaya Langkawi, Tioman and Times Square — as well as two corporate stop packages, ‘Bringing You Home’ and ‘A Sweet, Suite Deal’ for Berjaya Times Square and Penang. It also signifies the one-stop hospitality and uncompromising service that the group prides itself upon, explains Abel Nelson Nang, BHR’s corporate director for marketing and communications.
Nang believes the two city hotels are great for business and leisure travellers alike, as both are adjoined to shopping malls, centrally located. On the other hand, the island resorts cater for those seeking recreational adventures, exploration and pampering in a scenic paradise setting. From diving in pristine waters to jungle trekking, watersports and golfing, such experiences are primed for the mind, body and soul.
Also supported by the tagline, ‘Where Hospitality Meets Simple Elegance’, the campaign also champions a noble cause, as RM1 from each package will go to the ‘A Dollar, A Scholar’ charity fund that provides educational support for the underprivileged children. “Whilst you enjoy a holiday, you would also be making a difference in the lives of children, who are our future and, who will carry our legacy,” he adds.
