LANGKAWI: A total of 1,000 local and foreign delegates will
attend the three-day 2024 Routes Asia beginning Feb 27 at Mahsuri International
Exhibition Centre (MIEC) here.
"The event provides a platform for airlines, airports,
tourism authorities and stakeholders in the region's aviation industry to meet
and share best practices," said Langkawi Development Authority (LADA)
chief executive officer Datuk Haslina Abdul Hamid.
"A total of 1,000 participants representing 329 companies
have confirmed their attendance and some 3,000 appointments, face-to-face
meetings and business-to-business matchmaking will be held," said Haslina.
She added that Routes Asia, formerly called New Routes Asia,
was the brainchild of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB). Its inaugural
event was held in Kuala Lumpur in 2003.
"Langkawi won the host rights following a bidding by
LADA, with the cooperation of MAHB and Tourism Malaysia."
The previous edition was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand in
February last year.
