ALMATY,
19 APRIL 2015: The Deputy Director General of Tourism Malaysia
(Planning), Dato’ Chong Yoke Har, is spearheading a weeklong sales mission to
Almaty, Kazakhstan, beginning 16 April. The visit is in conjunction with the country’s
participation in the Kazakhstan International Travel Fair (KITF) 2017, which is
a leading travel and tourism trade exhibition in Central Asia, happening from
19-21 April.
This year marks
Malaysia’s 16th year of participation in KITF, which is a testament
of its commitment to make the country a premier destination for travellers from the
Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS) countries, and other countries in the
Central Asian region. This event also acts as a prelude to Malaysia’s
participation in the upcoming Astana World Expo 2017, happening from June to
September.
Dato’ Chong launched
the Malaysia Pavilion at KITF 2017 earlier today, before addressing the media
at a press conference to update them on the latest tourist attractions and
tourism developments in Malaysia. After the press conference, she hosted the
KITF 2017 Networking Dinner at the Tsarevich Banquet Hall, Almaty to network
and show Tourism Malaysia’s appreciation for the local tour operators and media
who have given their support to promote Malaysia.
On 20 April, Tourism
Malaysia Almaty and Sunway Hotel Resort will work together to organize a
tourism seminar and welcome dinner to promote the latest tourism products and
offerings from Malaysia, as well as Sunway Hotel and Resort.
Throughout her visit,
Dato’ Chong will meet with various industry players and local media to update
them on Malaysia’s latest tourism products and offerings, as well as inform
them of Malaysia’s participation in the Astana World Expo 2017.
In 2016, Malaysia
welcomed a total of 26,757,392 international tourists of which 10,717 were from
Kazakhstan.
