ALOR STAR: The Alor Star Saturday Nite Ride will take place on Friday.
There are two categories - 16km and 21km - to cater for cyclists of varying strengths and stamina. Both routes offer participants a scenic ride, and will start and end at the Alor Star Tower. Mayor Datuk Mat Noh Ahmad said the ride would start at 8pm.
He said anyone with a bicycle was welcome to join the fun ride, organised by Alor Star City Council, Tourism Malaysia Negeri Kedah, Alor Star Tower, ZHB Entertainment, Nestle Products (Milo) and Alor Setar Bicycle Club.
"The event is not a competition, but a chance for cyclists, especially the avid ones, to enjoy a good evening ride. "You have a bicycle -- never mind in what shape or form -- you come and join us.
The ride is among the many activities organised for the 10-day Jom Pi Karnival@Bandaraya Alor Star 2013, which is part of the celebrations to mark the ninth year of Alor Star as a city. The carnival opened on Feb 10. By Teoh Pei Ying.
