YTL expands into North Asia

YTL Hotels will expand its portfolio to 16 by early next year with the opening of one hotel each in Japan and China. The Green Leaf Niseko Village in Hokkaido, which YTL acquired last year, is slated to open on December 14 after renovations. The property will be comparable to those in ski destinations such as Aspen, Vail and St. Moritz, which is the sister city of Niseko, said YTL Hotels executive vice president, Laurent Myter. Over in Shanghai, guest suites at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel will open in March 2011. The heritage property is located on Nanjing Road at the famous Bund intersection, overlooking the Huangpu River.

Myter also revealed that YTL had two island resorts under construction in Sabah, one in Pulau Gaya and another in Pulau Tiga. These are scheduled for completion in 2012 and will be owned and managed by YTL.
