KLUANG: The biometric system to record the identity of foreign tourists will be implemented next month, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein. “Implementation of the biometric system at entry points will prevent foreigners from overstaying in the country. “The Cabinet has already agreed to this,” he said when launching a foster child programme organised by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in Kahang yesterday.
Hishammuddin said the biometric system had been tested and proven by experts from Britain and Australia. “With this system, foreigners can’t get way with fake passports and overstay in the country. “Monitoring and deportation of foreigners will also be made much easier.”
