Up to 75pc of hotel rooms in Kedah fully booked for Raya period

ALOR STAR: Hotel bookings in Kedah for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations have reached between 60 and 75 per cent occupancy as of yesterday.

Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Kedah/Perlis chapter chairman Eugene Dass believes the rate could rise further as more outstation Kedahans return home for the festivities and travellers seize the long weekend to holiday.

"As of yesterday, our members reported an occupancy rate of between 60 and 75 per cent for hotels in both Langkawi and mainland Kedah during the Hari Raya period," he said.

"For mainland hotels, most guests are either returning to their hometowns or are regular travellers. Langkawi, on the other hand, is seeing a mix of locals returning to celebrate Hari Raya and tourists visiting for the holiday," he said.

Dass also expressed confidence that the occupancy rate would exceed 75 per cent, citing trends from previous years.

"We expect a higher occupancy, especially with last-minute travellers adding to the demand," he said.

As the festive season approaches, thousands of outstation Kedahans have already begun their journey back to their hometowns to celebrate.

In addition, the state government has launched the 'Visit Kedah Year 2025' campaign to further boost tourism and promote local attractions.
