Morris
Columbus Travel, a prominent tour operator in USA has chosen Langkawi-Malaysia,
as a focus destination alongside Singapore for their Morris Meetings &
Incentive (MMI) Group Fam Tour. A group of 20 participants, all key
decision-makers from 8 companies, visited Langkawi from 21-24 February 2025.
On 22
February 2025, Tourism Malaysia organized a networking dinner for the group.
The dinner was hosted by Mr. Mohd Akbal Setia, Director of the International
Promotion Division for Americas, Europe and Oceania (AERO), and also attended
by distinguished guests including YBhg. Dato Haslina binti Abdul Hamid, CEO of
Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), Ms. Nurul Nadiah Basiran, Senior
Executive of Corporate Meetings & Incentives at the Malaysia Convention
& Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Puan Sri Tiara Jacquelina, President &
Chief Dream Maker of Enfiniti Group-Dream Forest Langkawi, and other officials.
Their
ground handling services are sponsored by Destination Asia, while accommodation
is provided by Four Seasons Langkawi.
The
American market recorded 271,809 arrivals in 2024, marking an 18.4% increase
compared to the previous year. In terms of revenue, the United States
contributed RM1.1 Billion in 2024, reflecting a 32.2% growth from the previous
year. On average, American tourists stay in Malaysia for 7.7 days, with a per
capita expenditure of RM5,865.32.
