PUTRAJAYA, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- Tourists from China will not require a visa to visit Malaysia between March 1 and Dec 31 this year.
This was stated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak when he announced the recalibrated 2016 budget.
He said the visa exemption for Chinese tourists would be subject to specific conditions for a period of stay not exceeding 15 days.
In addition, the government will also facilitate the entry of foreign tourists by expediting the implementation of e-Visa to several countries which have been identified.
It was reported that Malaysia aims to draw eight million tourists from China annually over the next five years with RM22.1 billion spending power, compared to the 1.3 million Chinese tourists who visit Malaysia annually.
