KOTA KINABALU: An exciting year awaits adventure and fun seekers in Sabah.
Based on Sabah Tourism Board’s calendar of events, the annual Mt Kinabalu International Climbathon, which was cancelled last year due to the June 5 earthquake, will be back on Oct 15 and 16.
Those with a love for adventure and sports can look forward to the Beaufort 60k Ultra Marathon: Running for Autism; Specialised KK Duathlon; Sabah Adventure Challenge 2016: Raid Borneo, Lest We Forget Run, Borneo Death March 250km Ultra Marathon; Ranau International Paragliding Accuracy Championship; Super Kerbau Ultra Trail Marathon; and the Kokol Hill Challenge.
Other new events lined up are the Hasuu Tasuu 285km night trail run, Rungus Photography and Art Exhibition, Rungus Antique and Art Exhibition, Sago Festival, Moginakan (drinking and eating) Festival in July, Flower Festival 2016 in September, sleep over and night safari at the museum and Pumpkin Run.
There will also be a new talents exhibition for artistes between Jan 15 and April 8, historical family portraits exhibition between Jan 18 and March 31, the annual fallen heroes memorial service on Jan 21 and the Ruhiang/Kiulu adventure on Jan 23 and 24.
Visitors can also opt to attend the special exhibit on Islamic Civilisation between April and August, or the state museum’s exhibitions of Neolithic pottery, selfie and wefie competition, International Museum Day and Sabah Museum Day up to July.
These are only the “tip of the iceberg” of the programmes lined up this year.
