Butterworth-Padang Besar KTM Komuter Shuttle Service Begins Today

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 (Bernama) -- The Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Komuter shuttle service from Butterworth to Padang Besar begins today with fares starting at RM1.

KTM Berhad in a statement Friday said the three coaches offered six trips for Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth route per day, which would take one hour 45 minutes to complete one-way.

"The fare for this service is very reasonably priced at as low as RM1 to RM11.40 for a one-way trip for an adult.

"KTM Berhad also offers concession tickets at half-price to senior citizens, the disabled (OKU) and children between the age of four and 12 years while free for children under four years old," it said.

The KTM Komuter will stop at 13 stations namely Butterworth, Bukit Tengah, Bukit Mertajam, Tasik Gelugor, Sungai Petani, Gurun, Kobah, Alor Setar, Anak Bukit, Kodiang, Arau, Bukit Ketri and Padang Besar.

The train will leave Butterworth for Padang Besar at 5.45am, 10.45am and 3.30pm while from Padang Besar to Butterworth at 8am, 12.50pm and 6.30pm, it said.

The statement also added that the Butterworth-Padang Besar-Butterworth Electric Train Service (ETS) would be discontinued beginning today.

"Passengers who have purchased tickets can get full refund at KTM Intercity and ETS ticket counter," it said.
