World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) and Malaysia Major Events (MME), a division of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, announced the launch of the two events in Kailua-Kona Hawaii on Thursday.
MyCEB Chief Executive Officer Zulkefli Sharif said it is a great privilege to host the Ironman, which was last held in Southeast Asia three years ago and has a long history with Malaysia, in the region.
He said the bureau is looking forward to welcoming athletes from across the world with the warm hospitality and unique cultural experience of Malaysia-Truly Asia.

Ironman Malaysia will offer 40 qualifying slots for Hawaii in 2015.
Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya is one of 60 events worldwide that qualify athletes for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships. Zulkefli said professional athletes will compete for a total prize purse of US$40,000 for Ironman Malaysia and US$15,000 for Ironman 70.3 Putrajaya.
