Firefly Eyes 15-20 Per Cent Increase In Passengers This Year

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 (Bernama) -- Community airline, Firefly Sdn Bhd, aims to increase its passengers by 15 to 20 per cent this year from 1.7 million last year, said its Chief Executive Officer, Ignatius Ong.

He said to-date, the airline load passenger load has increased due to the branding initiative and the competitive and reasonable flight tickets.

"There are more billboards and frequency of flights on existing routes has increased the number of passengers. Firefly has 11 flights a day and these give passengers more options," he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of the airline's in-flight magazine here Thursday.

The magazine, called Fireflyz@Firefly, will be available from next month and is expected to attract a readership of 200,000 per issue. It will be available on board its ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600 aircraft. The airline is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines.
