An affordable hotel has opened its doors in the heart of Alor Setar, Kedah. The four-storey Fuller Hotel Alor Setar is located within walking distance to historical sights and tourist spots such as the Royal Museum, Cultural Square and Alor Setar Tower. It has 132 rooms with prices ranging from RM100 to RM188.

The soft launch of the hotel saw more than 500 people in attendance. They were treated to a lion dance followed by lunch. The hotel also has ample parking space, conference rooms, a banquet hall, safe box facilities, a surau for Muslim guests, 24-hour CCTV surveillance and free WiFi.

Badminton players from Penang were the first guests to check in during the launch followed by team members from Pahang and Malacca. The teams will occupy 44 rooms for four nights.
Penang team manager Ang Lay Heang said she was satisfied with the facilities at the hotel, adding that the rooms were comfortable and served the needs of the players.

Hotel director Datuk Tan Huat Sheng, who was present to welcome the guests, said he planned to open similar hotels in other towns using the name ‘Fuller’. “I am aware that hotels are springing up all over the city but I hope this comfortable, affordable business and leisure hotel will attract locals and tourists alike.
