JOHOR BARU: Johor is expected to receive five million visitors every year beginning next year.
Johor Tourism, Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Executice chairman Datuk Hoo Seong Chang said to achieve the target, various plans including promotional activities have been implemented, locally and overseas.
He said the confidence is based on the coming onstream of developments like Iskandar Malaysia which will be home to world-class theme parks like the Pinewood animation studio, Puteri Harbour Indoor Theme Park and Legoland Malaysia.
"The opening of Johor Premium Outlets also helped to attract domestic and foreign tourists," he said. "The state government has been collaborating with parties like the Tourism Ministry, the media, and local and foreign tour agencies. "Such collaborations are aimed at making Johor one of the top tourist destinations in the country.
"They would also enable the state government to promote more interesting destinations that tourists can visit in the future," he said, adding that besides Iskandar Malaysia, the state government will also promote other interesting destinations in the state.
