LANGKAWI, July 2 (Bernama) -- The Langkawi Homestay Association will join a group of Malaysian homestay operators to promote their holiday programmes in Nagoya, Japan, early this September.
Its chairman Mokhtar Shahabuddin said this would be the second time the association had gone to promote the industry in the Land of the Rising Sun.
"Earlier we had joined an entourage from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture to Tokyo, Japan, and from the promotional efforts, we received encouraging response from tourists there," he told Bernama here.
He said a total of 12 representatives, consisting of homestay operators and members of the traditional dance group from Langkawi will participate in this promotion. "Apart from Langkawi, also joining this promotional effort will be representatives from Perak, Sarawak, Sabah and Negeri Sembilan.
At present in Langkawi, there are 48 homestay operators who own 188 homestays from Kampung Wang Tok Rendung, Kampung Sungai Itau, Kampung Padang Lalang Ayer Hangat, Kampung Bukit Tangga and Pulau Tuba.
