KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 (Bernama) -- More than 500 orchids and bonsai trees will be exhibited at 'Kuala Lumpur Orchid and Bonsai Show 2015' (KLOBS 2015) to be held at the Perdana Botanical Garden KL here from August 7 to 16.
Kuala Lumpur mayor, Tan Sri Ahmad Phesal Talib said the programme would be participated by more than 23 countries out to display unique species of orchids and bonsai, making this event more interesting than last year.
Among the participating countries are Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Japan, New Zealand, USA, Australia, Canada, Italy, China and Malaysia.
"Last year the exhibition was focused only on local species of orchids and bonsai, nevertheless, it attracted more than 15,000 visitors. "So this year with the unique display of orchids and bonsai from other countries, this will definitely attract more visitors including tourists," he told a press conference at Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), here today.
Apart from the exhibition, KLOBS 2015 will also be organising various competitions, among them the prettiest orchid and bonsai competitions. Ahmad Phesal said the event would revolve around 3F (Flora, Festival, Food) as the theme, in an effort to enliven the event as well as attract visitors of different generations.
Other activities include graffiti drawing, colouring and photography contests, cooking demonstrations with the use of flowers, and a flora fashion show, he said.
KLOBS 2015 will be opened to the public Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am to 10pm.
