500 Personnel To Monitor Safety Of 2015 KL City Grand Prix

KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) -- About 500 personnel are tasked with ensuring safety and the smooth running of the three-day 2015 KL City Grand Prix 2015 from August 7.

City mayor Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz said they comprised policemen, firemen and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall traffic team itself who would ensure the debut event would go as planned.

"They will monitor in terms of safety and emergency to prevent anything untoward from taking place during the competition.

"We are prepared. If there is a mishap, a rescue team will promptly be at the scene," he told reporters after a coordination meeting of the event, here, today.

Mhd Amin said roadside electronic sign boards would also show the latest information on the traffic and the progress of the event.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Public Order and Traffic chief, ACP Datuk Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said a special briefing would be held soon to discuss traffic issues in detail.

He hoped traffic problems could be tackled efficiently during the event.

In the meantime, GT Global Race Sdn Bhd chairman, Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Ja'afar hoped the event would place Kuala Lumpur on the world map, on par with the Sepang F1 Circuit and Formula E in Putrajaya.

The roads involved in the event are Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan P. Ramlee.

Contractors will close the affected roads from 6 am until 6 pm, during the three-day event.
