Those plying the North-South Expressway (NSE), the ELITE highway and the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and pay toll electronically for their long distance travel on Off-Peak Days on 16 and 23 February in conjunction with the Chinese New Year holidays will be able to enjoy a 30 percent toll rebate.
PLUS Managing Director, Dato’ Noorizah Hj Abd Hamid said, “The 30 percent toll rebate, which will be given to highway users travelling more than 100 kilometres and paying toll electronically (via PLUSMiles card, Touch ‘n Go card or SmartTAG) on 16 and 23 February is to encourage more to travel during Off-Peak Days.”
This is part of an initiative by PLUS to reward highway users paying toll electronically during the upcoming festive season.
PLUS anticipates that traffic on the NSE will increase by 15 percent to 1.5 million vehicles per day on peak days on 17, 18, 21 and 22 February.
“We are also issuing a Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to help the public plan their journey on Peak Days during the holidays,” Noorizah said.
As such, PLUS will also offer a 20 percent toll rebate to long distance travel users following the TTA this Chinese New Year.
According to Noorizah, “The 20 percent toll rebate will be given to Class 1 vehicle users who follow the TTA, pay toll electronically and travel more than 100 kilometres on the NSE, ELITE and the NKVE on 17, 18, 21 and 22 February.”
The PLUS TTA consists of travel schedules between the Klang Valley and major towns and cities in the north and south of the Peninsular. Based on its studies, higher TTA compliance by the public during previous festive seasons had contributed to smoother traffic flow on the mainline.
PLUS has also finalised other approaches and strategies to help the public enjoy smoother travel on the highways during the upcoming festive seasons.
“Details of these initiatives will be issued to the media during a special media briefing and conference on 11 February,” Noorizah said.
