KUALA LUMPUR: Squash queen Nicol David won her eighth Kuala Lumpur Open title when she beat Hong Kong's Annie Au 11-4, 12-10, 11-9 at Berjaya Times Square on Saturday.
It was the six-time world champion's 60th Women's International Squash Players Association title. "It was nowhere near easy as I was trailing hard in the second and third set,” said Nicol. "It was a really tough match and there was only a fine line between winning and losing and I just had to stick in there and play my own game," she said.
Nicol thanked CIMB for upgrading the tournament to a World Series Gold event. "It really meant a lot for the sport,” said an emotional Nicol.
