SUBANG JAYA: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Thursday revealed details of its first new flagship aircraft, the Airbus A380-800, which will be in service from July 1.
The first MAS A380 will operate thrice weekly on the Kuala Lumpur-London route, while the second A380 will also operate on this route from end-August 2012. The third A380 will be used for Kuala Lumpur-Sydney flights.
"We are the first to introduce the A380 into service using a uniquely refreshed look instead of the regular corporate identity," said MAS groupCEO Ahmad Jauhari Yahya in a statement here Thursday. The aircraft's exterior has been revamped, showcasing the national airline's iconic "wau" (kite) symbol with modern fonts.
The A380 has a seating capacity of 494, and is divided into three classes with eight first class seats and 350 economy class seats on the main deck, and 66 business class seats and 70 more economy class seats on the upper deck. "This will be our flagship aircraft to launch exciting new levels of comfort, luxury, and convenience in long haul travel."
