Talks linking two Russian cities and KK via direct flights in progress

SEMPORNA: Talks are underway to have direct flights from two eastern Russian cities to Kota Kinabalu by year-end.

Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen said discussions between tourism officials from Vladivostok and Khavbarosk cities had already began. “The state Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry through Tourism Malaysia will have charter flights from these two cities to Kota Kinabalu this will happen.

“Malaysia has no direct flight from Russia. (The nearest is) Bangkok to Moscow and even Vietnam also has flights to the Russian capital,” she said. Ng said Vladivostok is only seven hours by air from the state capital, adding this will allow more tourism players to penetrate the Russian market.
