‘Retail Merchant Of The Year’ award for mall

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur added another award to its growing list of trophies recently. It was conferred the “Retail Merchant Of The Year” award by global payment solutions powerhouse MasterCard Worldwide at the ‘MasterCard Hall of Fame Awards 2010’. This is Pavilion KL’s 19th award since opening in 2007, and ninth award for 2010. The prestigious annual award show celebrates the best card marketing programmes pioneered by banks and merchants throughout the region.

Prestigious: Yap receiving the `Retail Merchant of the Year’ award at the MasterCard Hall of Fame Awards 2010.

The awards were conferred by MasterCard based on a review of the card marketing campaigns launched and implemented by nominees region-wide over the past year. Pavilion KL outclassed other leading shopping centres in the region for this recognition. Chief Executive Officer for Pavilion KL, Joyce Yap said: “To be recognised at such a regionally recognised event by a global household name like MasterCard validates our efforts to deliver a complete retail experience, delectable mix of cuisine and absorbing entertainment options.” Yap received the award at a regional ceremony hosted by MasterCard Worldwide in Hong Kong recently.

Pavilion KL had partnered with MasterCard in 2010 for sales-driven campaigns, namely the Malaysia GP Sale, Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival (MMSC) and the Malaysia Year End Sale (MYES). MasterCard has also been involved in Pavilion KL’s lifestyle and festive events, namely Pavilion Pit Stop in conjunction with the Malaysia Formula 1 Grand Prix and the mall’s Hari Raya campaign ‘Sinaran Raya’ where the main highlight was a Sheila Majid limited edition CD of Hari Raya classics. “We have worked closely with MasterCard to develop campaigns that are fresh and relevant to our consumers. For example, redemption campaigns for the hugely popular annual sales – Malaysia GP Sale, MMSC and MYES – which have delighted both domestic shoppers and have also positively impacted consumer tourism. “Our activities in 2010 were pure quality and won us the award ‘Retail Merchant Of The Year’ but 2011 will be an even more exciting year for all visitors to Pavilion KL as we seek to make every activity, every event and every festive period even better than the award winning 2010,” said Yap.
