Airline unveils new fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft

It was a momentous occasion for Firefly as it unveiled its new fleet of Boeing 737-800 aircraft at the Skypark Terminal, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport recently. Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha graced the unveiling and officially led the tour of the new fleet accompanied by Firefly managing director Datuk Eddy Leong. “I am happy with Firefly’s continued expansion and the introduction of its new fleet of jet aircraft. This will undoubtedly mean that passengers now have better choices to satisfy their travel needs and yet still enjoy low fares,” said Kong.

Looking good: Kong (second from left) and Leong with Firefly cabin crew after the official launch.

Leong said with the new jets, they would be offering the lowest fares in Malaysia. “I personally guarantee low fares. Apart from the 40% savings off the standard rates, passengers can be assured of friendly and superior service levels,” he said. Firefly will operate six Boeing 737-800s in 2011 and by 2012 this would be increased to 13 aircraft.

Thank you: Leong (left) presents a momento to Kong.

“There will be announcements of new routes in the future as our fleet grows,’ said Leong. The new fleet will begin its operations to its new routes, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching on January 15 from the main terminal building of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
