DUBAI, 17 September 2026 - Tourism Malaysia held a productive
meeting with Etihad Airways at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi on 17 September
2026. The Tourism Malaysia delegation comprised Mr. Chua Choon Hwa, Deputy
Secretary General (Tourism), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia;
Mr. Mohd Faharuddin Hatmin, Director of Tourism Malaysia Dubai; and Ms. Mohana
Murni Shanmugan, Deputy Director, MENA Unit, International Promotion Division
(Asia/Africa).
During the meeting, Etihad Airways confirmed that it will increase
its flight frequency on the AUH–KUL route from 14 flights weekly to 21 flights
weekly, starting 15 December 2026. This increase marks a significant boost in
air connectivity between the two destinations and reflects growing confidence
in the Malaysia market.
Etihad Airways was represented by Mr. Tiago Phillimore, Director of
Digital Marketing & eCommerce, and Ms. Parris Lea Bohun, Global Tourism
& Partnerships Manager.
The meeting explored opportunities for closer collaboration under
Visit Malaysia 2026–2027, focusing on joint promotional initiatives, stronger
destination visibility and boosting visitor arrivals to Malaysia through
Etihad’s extensive network.
Both parties look forward to turning connectivity into inspiration
and inspiring more travellers to discover Malaysia.
