KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 (Bernama) -- The Taiping Zoo & Night Safari is organising a photography competition from March 12 until April 15 to promote places of interest in Taiping.

Its director Dr Kevin Lazarus said the competition which is open to people of all ages, has three themes - "Bird and Wildlife", "Heritage Building" and "Nature and Landscape".

"We are also organising a photography workshop on March 19 and 20. The participants can go on to participate in the competition," he told Bernama recently.

Students who want to join the workshop have to pay a fee of RM30 while for members of the public, it is RM50.

Meanwhile, Taiping Municipal Council president Datuk Abdul Rahim Md Ariff said more than 30 historical buildings and sites would be promoted in conjunction with Visit Perak Year 2017.

He said these buildings and sites are located along the 11km-Taiping Heritage Trail which will become a tourist attraction.

"The trail will feature several historical sites like the Clock Tower, the Old Railway Station and the Perak Museum which have cultural, educational, social and historical elements," he said.
