KUALA LUMPUR: The first day of the MATTA Fair got off to a great start with enthusiastic visitors queuing way before its doors opened.
They then thronged the many booths, perusing holiday packages and deals, specials on hotel and flight bookings, and bargains on domestic travel destinations.
Among them was engineer Tea Tian Huat, 43, who was looking for local attractions for the family.
Also there was Khalid Johan, 35, an executive, who was browsing through holiday packages to Sabah and Sarawak.
Over at the Putra World Trade Centre’s Hall 1M, umrah packages were being heavily checked out.
Student Nur Faizatul Akhmar Noor Yusry, 25, was pleased that the packages offered were cheaper than those sold online and outside.
Suriani Hamdan, 55, was looking for umrah packages for family and friends.
“It’s impossible to get good rates somewhere else,” said the businesswoman who had researched prices before coming to the fair.
The fair runs until Sunday and is open from 10am to 9pm. The entrance fee is RM4 per person, children below the age of 12 go in for free.
