SEPANG, Jan 8 (Bernama) -- Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL), the high-speed train service operator between KL Sentral and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), targets 11 million riderships for this year, up 20 per cent from last year.

ERL chief executive officer, Noormah Mohd Noor, said the ridership increase by 43 per cent last year was largely due to the opening of the KL International Airport 2 (klia2). "In 2013, we did 6.4 million, last year 9 million and for this year we are targeting 11 million riderships," she said.

She told Bernama this after the launch of KL TravelPass by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz at KLIA here Thursday.

The KL TravelPass is an integrated smart card ticket that can be used on all major public transportation systems in Kuala Lumpur, including the KLIA Express, KL Monorail and RapidKL LRT and buses. Targeted at inbound visitors, the card operates at the Touch 'n Go platforms and can be used at food and beverages outlets and convenience stores with Touch 'n Go facility.
